NYSC CUTS DOWN POSTINGS TO PLATEAU BY 50%
The state Coordinator of the National Youths Service Corps, Plateau state, Mr. Tunde Baba Ahmed has declared that the national directorate of the scheme has reduced by 50 per cent the usual allocation to the state due to the persistent eruption of violence in the state.
The coordinator stated this when he paid a courtesy call on the Commissioner of Police in the state Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba in his office in Jos.
He said the usual 2400 corps members normally posted to the state has now been reduced to 1200 members only, because of the incessant crisis .
A press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Muhammed Lerama and made available to Peoples Daily said the coordinator made the mandatory visit to the CP before the commencement of the NYSC Camp orientation programme for 2010.
The visit was to ensure the security of the corps members at the camp.
He said he was also there to remind the CP of the need to send policemen to various service locations of the corps members in the state for their security.
