JOS: 5 mobile policemen die in auto crash

No fewer than five mobile policemen died on Sunday afternoon in a ghastly motor accident in Jos, Plateau State.

An eyewitness account stated that the fatal accident occurred opposite Hill Crest International School, Josaration number NPF 7559 donated by the Plateau State Government conveying them skidded off the road while attempting to overtake a taxi.

The eyewitness said the driver lost control of the van and rammed into the iron pillars of a pedestrian bridge opposite the international school and somersaulted several times before it landed in a ditch.
According to him, four of them died instantly with parts of their bodies littered the main road while the rest who sustained various degrees of injuries were conveyed to the nearby Plateau State Specialist Hospital.
It was gathered that one of them later gave up the ghost at the hospital while receiving treatment.

Five of them who sustained fatal injuries were seen at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital while those who sustained minor injuries were discharged immediately. Officers and men of the state police command including the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba, who visited the hospital on getting wind of the accident, were completely dazed by the incident and some were seen crying over the loss.
